The Ambassadors committee serves as the goodwill arm of the Chamber, welcoming new and expanding businesses and services to the community and volunteering to help at Business After Hours and Chamber events. They help fellow members celebrate their milestones such as groundbreakings and ribbon cuttings. They promote the image and activities of the Chamber by increasing the visibility in a positive way through the cooperation of the media. This committee meets as needed.
The Business Education Committee works to improve the business climate and outlook of the entire business community in the Kirksville area, with community events and educational business seminars. This committee meets as needed.
Community and Economic Development
The Community and Economic Development Committee creates long-range plans and goals for the Chamber of Commerce. It supports the efforts of the following sub-committees: Business Education, Job Fair, and Governmental Affairs. This committee will also support the efforts of Kirksville Regional Economic Development Inc, industry appreciation efforts, and any economic development efforts of both the City of Kirksville and Adair County. This committee meets year-round.
The Governmental Affairs Committee keeps the Board of Directors, membership, and community informed of important city, county, and state level issues. This committee serves as the liaison to state government officials in matters of community interest and hosts The Government in Focus Sessions (TGIF) and Candidates Forums prior to elections. This committee meets year-round.
The Merchants Committee organizes promotional programs and events designed to increase business throughout Kirksville and keep shopping dollars local. This committee develops programs that bring business to the retailers and restaurants in the Kirksville area. The New Student Welcome and Halloween Fun Fest are sponsored by this committee. This committee meets June through October.
The Technology committee assist the Chamber in presenting information to its members regarding issues on technology advancements and their effects on local business and economy. Informational sessions for members are held quarterly. This committee meets year-round.
