Invited Participants: Candidates for Kirksville City Council & Kirksville R-III School Board

Time: Doors open at 5:30 pm so that citizens may meet candidates. Candidates will be at tables set up around the exterior of the room.

6:30 pm Forum begins. School Board candidates will go first, followed by City Council. Each participant will have time for a 2 minute introduction so they can answer the question: Why do I want to be elected to this position?

Candidates will field questions from a panel of our local media representatives. Each candidate will have an opportunity to answer each question asked to their particular group.

The Governmental Affairs Committee of the Kirksville Area Chamber of Commerce will be hosting the annual State of the District Address on Friday, March 16, 2012, at 8 a.m. at the Adair County Annex Building at 300 N. Franklin in Kirksville, MO. This is part of the TGIF – The Government In Focus series.

There will be an update on the current legislative session and points of relevance to the Kirksville area and Adair County residents. The public is invited to attend and the event is free of charge. Donuts and coffee will be served at 7:30 a.m.

On Friday, March 23 at 6:30 p.m. the North Central MO Chapter of the American Red Cross will be hosting their Day of Heroes Banquet.

The Day of Heroes Award, sponsored by the North Central Missouri Chapter of the American Red Cross, recognizes community heroes in the following six different categories: King Foundation Education Hero, Public Safety Hero, Youth Hero, Good Samaritan Hero, Military Hero, and Family Hero.
